Lignum, The Future Of Bespoke Timber Window & Door Tooling:

Lignum™ is the first independent UK timber window & door system with Secured by Design and PAS 24:2016 certification that is available to any joinery manufacturer.

Designed to suit UK housing styles, with the Lignum timber window and door system, every product has been rigorously tested to achieve Secured by Design accreditation. Secured by Design is the coveted police specification that tests against security, robustness and durability.

Lignum has also been fully tested to comply with Building Regulations Document Q for new build housing. The timber windows and doors are certified to stringent PAS24:2016 standard for security and BS 6375:2015 Parts 1 & 2 for weathertightness.

Tooling Designed For Precision & Tested Internationally For Quality

The Lignum tooling system prioritizes precision and efficiency for machinists. Manufactured and tested to the rigorous international standards of BS EN 847, these tools guarantee safe, consistent, and high-quality cuts.

This translates to less rework and frustration for the machinist. Additionally, Lignum tooling incorporates built-in chip breakers, actively preventing chip buildup and potential tool damage or friction. The aerodynamic design further enhances efficiency by minimizing drag and promoting smooth chip removal.

This lightweight design not only reduces machine and motor wear but also allows for faster toolpath execution, saving the machinist valuable time.

In essence, Lignum empowers machinists with precision, reliability, and speed without sacrificing on safety or finish quality.

An Efficient System Designed To Streamline Your Manufacturing:

The Lignum tooling system sets itself apart through its efficiency, ease of use and fast profile knife changes. Designed to combat the growing skills gap, the Lignum system utilizes Leitz Zero Set tooling, allowing for quick and easy tool changes. Minimising downtime between production runs for different window or door profiles.

Leitz Marathon coated knives boast a 30% longer lifespan compared to standard tooling. This translates to fewer tool replacements, lower costs and  reduced disruptions to production schedules.

Enjoy bespoke manufacturing with fast profile changes without additional tooling, simply use our quick knife change system to replace profile knives.

A Versatile System Designed For New Build & Conservation Works:

The Lignum tooling system, co-developed by Leitz and The Joinery Network, empowers manufacturers to compete effectively in both new build and conservation projects. This versatility stems from several key advantages that manufacturers will inherit from the tooling system.

Thanks to our rigorous testing process, all Lignum products are tested for the current building regulations L, M, Q and Weathertightness. This means all  Lignum products are suitable for new build and conservation work; allowing manufacturers to expand into new markets, growing their business.

Avoid Test Cuts, Remove The Need To Sand Down And Eliminate  Rectifications and Rework:

Lignum tooling machines timber to a very high standard of finish quality, increasing your productivity and reducing cycle times by eliminating or reducing the need for sanding and rectifications.

This also helps with the de-nibbing process and allows for an easier paint applying process.

Firstly, the finish quality of the system has dramatically reduced our need to sand down or re work a project, meaning we can get straight to assembly and decorations like painting and the de-nibbing process has gotten shorter too.

Lignum Tooling For Spindle Moulders & Manual feed:

Our Lignum tooling sets are most commonly used on spindle moulders by  joinery companies.

All Lignum blocks have the same 5mm height from the table and a constant block height. This enables a zero set up time as the finger fence and table do not need to be adjusted between tool changes; only the diameter of the tenoning and profiling blocks is different.

Lignum Tooling For CNC Machinery:

The Joinery Network & Leitz have developed and tested a lightweight and smaller Lignum solution for CNC machining centres that replaces the tenoning blocks with counter profile blocks for a smoother joint.

Our CNC Lignum tooling allows for the creation of complex designs and intricate details that would be difficult to achieve with a spindle moulder.
