Improve Your Manufacturing Efficiency With LIGNUM Window Tooling & Door Tooling:
LIGNUM window tooling and door tooling sets itself apart through efficiency and ease of use. Designed to combat the growing skills gap, the Lignum tooling system utilises ‘Zero Set’ designs. Allowing for quick and easy tool changes between operations with no machine setup required.
LIGNUM uses Leitz Marathon coated knives that boast 30% longer tool life than carbide profile knives. This translates to fewer tool replacements and thus lower costs. Fast knife changes are possible thanks to an innovative clamping system, minimising your downtime between different window or door profiles.
Improve Productivity & Reduce Your Rework With LIGNUM Window Tooling & Door Tooling:
LIGNUM window tooling and door tooling is engineered for precision, producitvity and one pass machining. We have proven that with LIGNUM window tooling, one operator and a single spindle moulder: you could manufacture up to 16 window components a day.
Shear cut designs create superior surface finish and heavily reduce or eliminate sanding and other rework, assisting the de-nibbing process for easier and faster painting. Our German-engineered window tooling and door tooling combines multiple tool operations within one design, reducing your cycle times.
LIGNUM Is A Versatile Tooling System Designed For New Build & Replacement Markets:
The Lignum window tooling and door tooling system, empowers manufacturers to compete effectively in both new build and replacement markets. This versatility stems from continually testing LIGNUM products to the latest legislation and building regulations.
All Lignum products are tested for the current building regulations L, M, Q , PAS:24 and Weathertightness. We are also compliant with Secured By Design and LIGNUM manufacturers can get licensing from the police as required.

Lignum, A Versatile Window & Door Tooling System
LIGNUM window and door tooling is suitable for almost all machinery on the market. Regardless of your preferred machinery system or brand, we will work together with OEM’s to ensure that LIGNUM is suitable for your machinery setup and still offers high-performance machining.
Window Tooling & Door Tooling For Spindle Moulders:
Our Lignum window tooling & door tooling sets are most commonly used on spindle moulders by joinery companies.
All Lignum blocks have the same 5mm height from the table and a constant block height. This enables a zero set up time as the finger fence and table do not need to be adjusted between tool changes; only the diameter of the tenoning and profiling blocks is different.
Window Tooling & Door Tooling For CNC Machinery:
The Joinery Network & Leitz have developed and tested a lightweight and smaller Lignum solution for CNC machining centres that replaces the tenoning blocks with counter profile blocks for a smoother joint.
Our CNC Lignum window tooling & CNC door tooling allows for the creation of complex designs and intricate details that would be difficult to achieve with a spindle moulder.
Window Tooling & Door Tooling For Window Line Machinery:
Working in tandem with machinery manufacturers, Leitz has also developed a Lignum window tooling solution for window line machines.
Experience seamless integration with your window line machine. Leitz Lignum tooling is specifically designed for optimal performance within these systems, maximising production speed and minimising downtime for fast, efficient window and door manufacturing.
Split System Machining & Bespoke Tooling Solutions:
We understand that when it comes to engineering, there isn’t a ‘right way’ to do things. That’s why we frequently create split solutions for our customers. We can easily split LIGNUM tooling to run different applications on different machinery.
If you’re looking to change your machinery at a later date or just want to get full capacity of existing machinery, we can create you a bespoke window and door tooling solution.

What Certifications Does the LIGNUM System House Inherit?
Document Q - Security in Dwellings:
For the new build market and soon to be for the replacement market, windows will need testing to PAS24:2016 / PAS24:2022 which is a mechanical and manual test process, to make sure all parts of a product withstand test forces.
This will be the same for doors, all door types including double and single doors. All products manufcatured with LIGNUM window tooling or door tooling comply with this legislation.
Document L1b - Conservation of Fuel and Power in New Dwellings:
Windows and doors must meet thermal performance criteria under this approved document. This will be in the form of a U-value calculation to British Standard BS10077-1 or BS10077-2. All LIGNUM products made with Leitz window tooling or door tooling comply to this standard.
- BS10077-1 is just a formula spreadsheet calculation to give to a generic result rounded up.
- BS10077-2 is a full program simulation to get the best and most accurate result, to be used for building regulation and for the sap calculation of the whole building.
Currently this is 1.4W/m2K for the replacement market and 1.4W/m2K for new build.
Document M - Mobility Access:
All LIGNUM open in & out doorsets have been designed to meet the mobility requirements for access to new build.
A low threshold has been approved and design to fit either on to structure directly, or with a timber cill.
The LIGNUM Bi-folding doors also meet document M for mobility access.
BS6375-1 - Performance of Windows and Doors:
All LIGNUM Windows and doors are tested to meet this British Standard. The test process calculates the air permeability leakage, water resistance and positive/negative window load pressure. The air permeability 50pa reading is required for energy rates under the BRFC.
This test gives you the confidence that your designs and range manufcatured with LIGNUM window or door tooling will withstand UK weather conditions and allows you to give warranty with the assurance they will perform.
Secured By Design - The Coveted Police Accreditation:
Secured by Design (SBD) is the official police security initiative that works to improve the security of buildings and their immediate surroundings to provide safe places to live, work, shop and visit.
SBD’s product based accreditation scheme – the Police Preferred Specification - provides a recognised standard for all security products that can deter and reduce crime.
There are currently many hundreds of companies producing thousands of attack resistant crime prevention products, across 30 different crime categories, which have achieved Police Preferred Specification.
All products manufcatured with LIGNUM window tooling or door tooling are designed for compliance with Secured By Design. You can go directly to SBD knowing that your product will pass their assesment.
What Does This Mean For Your Business?
The complete range of Lignum products has been comprehensively tested under British Standards and in some instances, exceeds the specification. Your membership certification covers all aspects relating to these regulations.
Testing includes PAS24:2016 / PAS24:2022 security, BS6375-1,2& 3 for weather performance and operational performance. We also offer the fully tested thermal calculation data and will provide C E Mark documents DoP, (Declaration of Performance) as part of the licensing scheme and full U-value certification for both hardwood and softwood species.
These are regulatory for new build and currently undergoing parliament as regulatory in renovation and refurbishment (latest data indicates - expected late 2025/26)
Having a fully tested range of windows and doors with Lignum gives your business and your clients ‘peace of mind’ that the products you manufacture, will deliver outstanding performance, are fully certified and covered by warranties.
The cost of testing yourself can be in the region of £100,000, a huge outlay to any business. Membership of The Joinery Network negates this worry. The Joinery Network ensures all changes in regulation, requiring retests, are taken care of within the licensing scheme.
